About the Image(s)

Spring was well underway this May, and the Iris were lovely. The cloud-rich blue sky blended in perfectly with the blue and white of the Iris petals. With the goal of capturing the etherial scene, I crouched way down and shot up at the flower and into the sky with an Apple iPhone 16 pro max. The image was imported into LightRoom Classic, and adjusted to give a bit more contrast to the flower.

Nice tight crop and I like the upward direction used in taking this image. Good detail on the veins on the petals and I like the slight lavender coloring of the iris. I do find the old dried up leaf/petal a little bit of an eye sore to this image. You may want to try and remove it.   Posted: 07/14/2025 15:55:10

Thanks Tom. I did consider removing that dried section, but then I realized that leaving it in the image created a lovely vanitas.

Judith, this is a winner. You have become a master in flower photography and post processing. I love how you have isolated the iris against the sky and brought out the beautiful colors and textures. I think the softness of the sky behind the iris works really well. I wouldn't change a thing. Well done.   Posted: 07/16/2025 19:06:04

Very nice image of the Iris and the angle makes it more dynamic. Great detial in the petals. I might have toned down the background a tad to make the Iris stand out more but then would loose the etherial scene you were looking for.   Posted: 07/18/2025 22:39:26

Thanks so much Ally. I did experiment with the contrast between the background and iris. In the end I went with the etherial as you observed.   Posted: 07/19/2025 14:50:00

This is a beautiful image in my opinion. I see it as a very large canvas gallery wrap. The colors are calming and restful. Personally, I would not change a thing.   Posted: 07/19/2025 18:25:51

I echo everyone's comments, this is a lovely image and don't change a thing. With all of your beautiful flowers and tree images you could start a greeting card line. Another beautiful image.   Posted: 07/25/2025 18:57:28
