This was taken off our back deck in Colorado when I spotted the elk moving up the hill. We get lots of Elk at this time of year but quite rare to see them so close to our house!
1/160 F8.0 ISO 800 Canon 5D Mark IV 100-400mm lens
In post I masked making the Elk brighter and put it through Denoise.

Lovely scene. I like that all of the elk's heads are above the horizon against that beautiful sky. This picture makes me want to go out west! The only suggestion I can think of, and I'm not sure if I would even do, is to very slightly lighten up the face of the elk looking at the camera. It has to be slight as the light is coming from behind the elk but you might be able to get by with a touch. Posted: 04/05/2025 23:19:58
I like this shot a lot. The three elk making their way through chest high snow showing the challenges of winter. The handling of the snow coloration and that of the sky and clouds setting beyond the hill add to this image. Nice job. Posted: 04/06/2025 22:55:29
