About the Image(s)

This image was taken around 8am a few weeks ago. The Pine Warblers are back in force, It was fun watching them squabble over the few seeds I put on this log. I cropped it, ran it through Topaz denoise then LR to increase the exposure since this log is is between two trees.

Wonderful action and very beautiful. There might be a very slight yellow color cast on the birds. I like what you did in post but I think I would either add a bit more brightness to the birds or possibly less so to the log. I might also consider cropping off some of the space to the left, although it does make your wonderful logo look wonderful.   Posted: 12/08/2024 16:57:39

Thank you Mike, I will experiment with your suggestions. I am still quite a beginner in LR and PS, so everything I do is really by trial and (mostly) error. If I make mistakes, that is how I learn. Also thanks for your kind comment about the logo, my daughter designed it for me.
Wishing you very Happy Holidays.   Posted: 12/15/2024 18:57:26

Ah, your warblers are having words! Great timing to capture the open wings and catchlight in the eyes. Consider cropping the empty space on the left and some of the log to focus the view in on the birds. The background is a touch saturated with yellow/orange, you might select the background and decrease saturation. This image is a lot of fun.   Posted: 12/14/2024 18:17:19

Thank you Polly I will work a little more on this image. I really need more practice with LR. but mistakes lead to learning.

Wonderful action, story, texture, detail, colors. The background bokeh and color are marvelous. The detail in that log, the meal and the play of light on the feathers are fun to explore. That said, I would experiment with Mike's and Polly's suggestions. Even a stunning image can be improved.   Posted: 12/15/2024 02:05:13

Thank you for your kind comments Judith, these birds are such fun to feed and watch, One flew down to the seed I was carrying till it realized what I was. It does seem that this log has become a favored feeding station, although there is not much room for too much seed.
Thank you again and wishing you Happy Holidays   Posted: 12/15/2024 19:05:39

Wonderful image and love the sharpness and textures of the warblers. I have a similar action shot in my bird bath this summer so always good to capture the action which you have done brillantly. Agree with Mike & Polly's suggestions of cropping a bit off the left and darkening perhaps the trees stump. Love your logo too!   Posted: 12/15/2024 19:44:50

Good work catching this decisive moment! The detail on the birds and the sense of action and anticipation create a lot of impact in my opinon. I feel the image is a bit too warm. My first instinct would be to move the white balance slider to cool it down a bit. I think it woudl help the background and would make the color of the birds more they way I see them in nature.   Posted: 12/16/2024 14:34:41
