About the Image(s)
Here is my image for November, It was taken in my backyard just after I had filled the bird feeders. A friend had drilled a hole this log in it and inserted an iron rod to keep it anchored to the ground. Many of the birds enjoy feeding from the few seed I leave there each day. Especially when the regular feeders get busy, it also makes an excellent spot for me to get shots of them.
I did very little post processing. I put it through denoise, cropped it, reset the white balance to daylight which gave the background a warmer glow I then increased the shadows and clarity on on the bird.
This shot was taken with my a9II and tamron 300mm lens,

Catching birds in flight is always very exciting to me. I love the graceful unfurling of those wings. I like the tone and gentle blur of the background. The bird and stump have a slight halo outline that may be an artifact of processing. I love the simplicity of the composition and the space into which the bird can fly. I would remove the twig on the upper left.   Posted: 11/02/2024 16:19:52

I agree with Judith's comments. Very nice shot with wonderful wing and tail feathers spread. You did a great job recovering the bird's colors which look very natural to me. I might crop in slightly tighter, taking some off the left and maybe less off the bottom.   Posted: 11/02/2024 19:00:16

Lovely movement of this bird inflight which you have captured so well. I like the diagonal flight of the bird as it is lifting off. Denoise has handled the noise well from the original. Great colour of the background which compliments the bird's colours. Very nice image.   Posted: 11/03/2024 22:18:36

I think the wing position and the detail in the bird are really nice. My eye travels smoothly from the seed on top of the log and along the diagonal flight path to the bird's eye which has catch like and looks very much alive. I too would crop on the left leaving room for the bird to move forward, but eliminating the tiny twig.   Posted: 11/09/2024 20:53:16

Thank you Sharon, every one has given suggestions that I really must work on. I confess I did not notice the twig in the image. I will either delete it or crop it out.

Thank you Judith, I confess I do not see the halo but will revisit the orginal RAW file and try post processing it again.

Wonderful capture of the bird taking off AND with a seed in its beak AND it's all in focus! What others have said about cropping I agree with. I like the colors and exposure you applied. I wonder what the image would look like if the tree trunk had a softer/blurred focus? Either way, it is very nice.   Posted: 11/10/2024 00:57:32

Thank you Polly, I agree about cropping, and will try your suggestion of softening the tree trunk.

A great action shot of this Downy Woodpecker. You had enough shutter speed to freeze most of the motion in the wings. It appears very sharp with nice catch light in the eye. A nice bonus was that he had a seed in his beak. Possibly a little tighter crop on the left and top while removing the twig and a slight vignette would in my opinion really focus in on the bird. Love the softness and coloring of the background as it helps set off the bird. Well done.   Posted: 11/17/2024 21:35:17

Thank you Pamela, I am afraid I did not notice that twig when I cropped, I will work on this image.
