The Queen Mary 2 stopped at the commercial port of Bremerhaven, Germany. The QM2 needed repairs and stopped at this commercial port. Passengers were not allowed into the commercial port but were ferried to a nearby public dock for dismembarkment.
I took this photo in route. My OM1 Mark2 with 12-100mm f4 IS @ 50mm captured the image at 1/160 sec, f13 and iso 125.
I intended to capture a colorful image of the commercial port with the QM2 - the first cruise ship to dock at this commercial port.
We headed to Southampton later that evening.

Great story. both your description and the appearance of a luxury cruise ship at a commercial shipping port.
I can even see the path of the launch you were on leading to the liner.
