October 2026 - Tall Grass

This photo is of tall grass in the uncut hay field next to my acreage. The photo was taken at sunset on September 27th at 6:25 PM.
I am using my Nikon Z72 camera with a Nikon VR 16-35 f/4G fx lens on an FX-to-Z lens adapter. My settings are 1/1000 sec at f/18 and an ISO of 640. I shot this at a 35mm focal length on manual exposure. I shot this almost directly at the sun. I did a lot of work in Lightroom to recover the shadows in the grass.

Terry - this is the type of image that I would definitely take. I enjoy the sunset and the sun's reflection of the blade of grass. I guess I'm looking for some type of detail in the blade of grass, but otherwise I enjoy the serenity of the flowing grass blade. Posted: 10/01/2026 17:39:45

This is a very nice composition, Terry. You've done really well bringing up the shadow side of the leaves, espacially for a back lit subject. The bright sun however, is a distraction. Posted: 10/01/2026 21:15:14
