About the Image(s)
This is an abandoned watchtower on Kinmen Island, which was once a major battleground between Taiwan and the PRC. I was stationed on the island for one year, from 1973 to 1974, and this past summer was my first visit since I left in 1974.
I was drawn to the watchtower, as well as the two lines of the trail leading toward it.
The photograph was taken with a Lumix G9 II camera and a Lumix 12??“60 mm lens at 1/320 second, f/5, and ISO 100. Post-processing was completed in Lightroom and Photo AI.

Tom - I can see why you were intrigued with the two leading lines to the watch tower. It looks like a radar outpost, they must have really maned this facility back the the day.   Posted: 10/01/2026 18:00:34
This a very interesting story and photo. I have nothing to add   Posted: 10/01/2026 18:11:09
Tom: Everything works in this image. There's nothing I would change.   Posted: 10/01/2026 21:27:36
Tom, this is obviously a very well done record shot of your past. The leading lines of the walkway to the watchtower are excellent. Also, I like the soft ocean and horizon. Would love to know if the island had changed much in 53 years?   Posted: 10/04/2026 14:00:12
