Red-ruffed Lemur (Varecia rubra) at the Caldwell Zoo in Tyler, Texas
I made this photograph on 05 May 2026 during a Marvin Methodist Church Ventures senior adults’ trip to the Caldwell Zoo. https://www.marvin.church/senior-adults https://caldwellzoo.org/ I used my Nikon Z7 with Nikkor 24 ??“ 200 mm lens. My camera recorded the Raw Image (NEF). The parameters were:
ISO 800
Shutter Speed 1/100 second
Aperture f/10
Focal Length 185 mm
I processed this photograph with Luminar Neo.

An interesting animal to photograph, Keith. Technically, everything seems fine, but I have two suggestions: Crop in much tighter on the animal; if the animal's head had been turned more toward the camera the image would have more impact. Posted: 08/08/2026 15:12:42
The Lemur is the subject and the colors are distracting so crop the photo if it is still sharp. The photo is too bright so check it after the crop. Posted: 08/08/2026 16:07:21

Keith, I too find zoos most interesting, especially when they have an aviary for birds. We've been to the Miami Zoo several times, and what I love about it is that there are no fences or glass to shoot through. All of the animals are in habitats surrounded by moats, which makes for much better photography.
