East Texas Men in Harmony by Keith Parris

July 2026 - East Texas Men in Harmony

About the Image(s)

I made this photograph with the camera in my Samsung A32 smartphone. This is in The First United Methodist Church in Longview, Texas. Two of the men singing are my friends. One I know from Marvin Methodist Church in Tyler, Texas, and the other man I know from the Sons of Confederate Veterans and Sons of the American Revolution. Nearly all of my photographs that I made with my Nikon Z7 and processed are on an external drive that is not working. I hope there is somebody who can recover my files from that external drive. I still have the RAW photographs on memory cards for my camera.

Keith, this is such a wonderful memory shot of so many well-dressed gentlemen singing their hearts out! The singers look terrific, but the audience ended up looking a bit ghostly. I hope you don't mind, I removed the audience so the focus stays on the singers.   Posted: 07/01/2026 12:38:52

Elimination of the ghosts is a definite improvement. I am usually afraid to crop too tightly. I don't know why the audience is so ghostly; perhaps my smartphone camera slipped into a mode that I did not notice.   Posted: 07/03/2026 23:42:15

I agree with Tom on the photo. As to your external dead drive, I have had one fail and sent it to a professional recovery service. My results were about 90% successful. My drive was an older 2 GB disc drive   Posted: 07/03/2026 21:23:07

Mine is a Western Digital My Book I think it is 8 TB. I am thinking about sending it to Western Digital. Do you remember which service you sent yours to? It is frustrating not to have that drive operating.   Posted: 07/03/2026 23:46:59

I sent it to a private repairman in Edmonton, Alberta.   Posted: 07/03/2026 23:49:13

Keith - what a great historical memory image that you captured, especially because you knew someone. I wish you the best on recovering your files.   Posted: 07/05/2026 14:38:29

This is a great memory photo for you. The quality of the photo is not good.   Posted: 07/08/2026 13:33:24
