About the Image(s)

A friend and I spent a Sunday morning walking around downtown Austin taking street photos. We did notice a significant number of people experiencing homelessness. One man we met said he was homeless, though his clean clothes and name-brand glasses caught our attention. We struck up a conversation, and he shared his religious views with us, which we found to be quite unconventional. I used a Nikon Z8 24-120mm F4 at 1/40 seconds ISO 80. My post editing was very minimal basically changed the color image to Monochrome and added some depth and highlights.

Sharlana, very interesting image and your narrative was excellent. Really like the subject in the center and the two wall art figures in the back. Very striking image. Could possibly use a little crop off the top. Wonder where his Mercedes was?   Posted: 04/08/2026 14:59:41

Thanks Tom - I can tell you that we didn't wait around to see if he had a Mercedes or not. Felt we needed to move away from him quickly. lol   Posted: 04/09/2026 19:28:18

Hi Terry - I didn't know alot about street photograpy myself. So one day I just went out and started watching people from a distance. It's interesting to capture tatoo artist at work.   Posted: 04/09/2026 19:29:29

This is very well done. Be careful. A great many are paranoid schizophrenics and can be dangerous very quickly.   Posted: 04/09/2026 20:30:50

This is a very striking image. The fact that the two painted characters on the wall are each turned toward the subject really makes the image. I think monochrome works really well with this image. Great job!   Posted: 04/10/2026 20:06:03
