HARVESTING by Charles Bartolotta

December 2025 - HARVESTING

About the Image(s)

This image was taken in the Lancaster, Pennsylvania area this past October. I noticed
this farm scene as I drove the back roads. The image was shot from the car because
there was no shoulder on the road, so I was unable to pull over and get out of the car. It
appears that the horses are pulling some kind of farm vehicle that is collecting hay (or
straw) and bundling it into bales. There was a sheet metal building in the upper left
quadrant of the image and a section of sky in the upper right. I used part of another
image that contained a large portion of a field and replaced those to parts with the field.
The rest of the processing consisted of color adjustments, denoising and sharpening
with Topaz.
Camara: Nikon Z8 with Sigma 150-600 mm lens
Aperture priority at f/10, 1/500 sec and ISO 1800

Charles, I think your Harvesting image has huge visual impact and interest! The lighting accentuates the story. All the earth tones are magnificent and it has outstanding sharpness and definition. Wouldn't change a thing.   Posted: 12/17/2025 14:26:02

Thanks, Tom. I think the four horses coming directly toward the camera helps the impact.   Posted: 12/17/2025 19:58:35
