Masked Weaver Bird by Charles Bartolotta

March 2025 - Masked Weaver Bird

About the Image(s)

I took this photo in 2013 when my wife and I went to Africa. The tour we took was not a
photo tour, just a regular tour through Lion World Tours. This masked weaver bird builds
an oblong shaped nest that hangs from a tree branch. The entrance to the nest is
through an opening in the bottom of the nest. This bird happened to land on the wood
rail just outside our bungalow.
RAW image processed in Photoshop. Darkened the rail, cropped, blurred background,
denoised, and sharpened.

Charles, This is a spectacular image. Everything is so in focus and sharp revealing perfect details, very impressive especially at the shutter speed used. The colors are fantastic and an open beak makes this image. Very nice.   Posted: 03/26/2025 15:25:53

Charles, I admire this photo of yours. The bird appears sharp throughout, and the blurred background makes it stand out prominently. Capturing this at 1/100 sec is impressive, especially with the bird's mouth appearing to move. Well done!   Posted: 03/28/2025 20:48:05
