December 2024 - Metro

About the Image(s)

This image was captured at night during a walk in downtown Houston on November 19, 2024. It shows a fast-moving Metro train passing through Main Street. By panning at a low shutter speed, I was able to create light trails from the neon lights of the surrounding buildings. To achieve acceptable sharpness on the train while maintaining the panning effect, I used continuous autofocus (via back-button focus) and a burst shooting mode at 10 frames per second.

Camera: Lumix G9 Mk2 with Leica 12-60 mm lens

Exposure: 1/10 sec at f/2.8, ISO 800
Focal Length: 12 mm
Exposure Program: Manual
Exposure Compensation: 0 EV
Metering Mode: Pattern
Flash: Did not fire

Post Processing: Lightroom was used to make basic tone adjustments. Then, the image was sent to Photo AI to remove noise and improve the sharpness. Upon returning to Lightroom, the color was enhanced with Color Mixer, Color Grading and Calibration.

This pretty good panning but could be a little sharper. I would either crop off the top or darken the back round.   Posted: 12/09/2024 16:56:14

I find panning a challenge for sure. Your colors are vivid and the Metro emblem is a bit blurry but readable. Thumbs up!!   Posted: 12/18/2024 17:02:12
