About the Image(s)
Camera: Nikon D750
Lens: Nikkor 24-120
Settings: 1/125, f8, 100 ISO
The image was captured mid-afternoon with filtered sunlight. My standard workflow for black and white conversion is with the black and white image adjustment in Photoshop. My workflow begins with "Basic" adjustments in ACR before the conversion. With this image I created the black background with levels and a black brush.

Wow, the highlighting of the Whiskers is great. They are tack sharp and the subject and lighting are perfect for B&W. The stark black agains the bright white of the whiskers makes this a very strong image.
I would only suggest adding a think white stroke around the frame to separate it from the viewing background. I tend to forget this too.   Posted: 09/07/2023 09:28:52

This image is a great example of the power of black and white, you strip away all the colour and you are left with three things, structure, tone & light and here we have all three but dominated by the light. Your removal of all other information just leaves us to revel in the joy of those three elements. Deep Joy. Thank you.   Posted: 09/14/2023 06:08:58
Nicely converted to highlight the Backlight and add Drama.   Posted: 09/14/2023 13:39:06
As mentioned by Paul, the power of B&W. Just great. I like it very much.
We often (me too) forget the thin stroke on the picture. There are pro and cons, but I also think it finished the picture and allow the viewer to be focused ont he picture.
Great light on/in the picture.   Posted: 09/15/2023 10:53:09

Ken sorry for the delay, I did not realize there was one image I had not seen! I do like the tonal values and the seemingly back light. I have nothing useful to add here. Well done   Posted: 09/26/2023 18:41:01
