About the Image(s)
A gas terminal in downtown St Louis, Missouri. I passed it many times while driving but took this on a photo walk. In my mind, a classic Monochrome image. The lines in the image are what attracted me.
Nikon D850 1/1600 sec at f/8.0. ISO 64. 24.0-70.0 mm f2.8 lens set at 70 mm. Lightroom conversion to monochrome.

Bob, lots of linear going on here with an offset of a curving stairway on the side which gives a nice sense of depth. The dramatic sky is a good justaposition of all the straight lines. Nice to have a very minimal border too. This subject does make for a nice monochrome image!   Posted: 07/05/2026 20:51:38

Bob - very clean image, perfect for a mono subject. Nothing else to say - perfect.   Posted: 07/08/2026 15:02:30

I should have said that your eye worked well during PP - by the simple act of cropping from the bottom - so that the stairs meet the vertical line right at the foot of the image. Nice touch.   Posted: 07/08/2026 16:24:48

At first glance, and from the right side of the stairs I saw the inside of the terminal! Then, at second glance I saw the terminals outside wall containing the steps. I like the crisp focus on the terminal and the blur in the background. Very interesting image. Good capture, Bob.   Posted: 07/11/2026 12:53:43
