About the Image(s)

Minolta 7D ??“ Tamron 70-200mm 2.8 @ 70mm ISO400 1/200 F5

If you are brave and can stand the rain, it came down in buckets. You can get the shots that really get you published. This one also got into the Hill Climb News paper as it won the Classic championship that weekend. In the colour I find that the colour gets in the way of the image, So the monochrome brings out the action more.

Nik Efex 8 (More Silver) with extra adjustments for the shadows.

I really like how you have "stopped" the race car and allowed the motion blur in the background! The car is crisp and well focused. And yes, the Mono enhances the motion! Well done   Posted: 04/03/2026 12:48:53

I really like the black-and-white treatment. It allows you to focus on the car.
Have you thought about giving the front of the car a little more room and taking it away from the back with the crop? Nice, Sharp focus!

I did, but I then thought a lot of the shot was the wet conditions and the spray was a big part of the image. Hense the room behind instead of in front.   Posted: 04/11/2026 07:21:29

Paul, great image showing the motion in the background and the race car is so sharp. Your adjustments in black and white bring out the detail and tones. Wonderful image...not surprised the newspaper published it!   Posted: 04/12/2026 22:06:38

Nice movement of the car, amplified with the rain (movement of water) in the back.
Nice composition with the spectators looking at the car. Their position gives good balance at the picture.
Well done in B&W, as the colors of the umbrella's and cars were too present.   Posted: 04/13/2026 10:55:21
