I have been on a long cruise within the Mediterranean for two months from mid-September visiting some 11 Countries - We had 5 ports in Spain, one of which was Valencia for 3 nights. Within walking distance of the port is the very modern Art and Science area, with 6 constructions mostly with ponds around. This is a photographic paradise. We visited the area some part of all 3 days including sunrise and sunset.
This building is all about the visual look - the entrance by day is through the two triangular area facing the camera here (after they have been rotated round and up) - inside is just a sealed dome shape you walk around both sides then exit through 2 more triangular “doors”. The dome houses an underground museum accessed elsewhere.
This was taken just in the blue hour, in manual mode with the following settings 1/15, f8, ISO 16,000. I chose to not use a tripod as I had to work quickly, moving between the viewpoints in the relatively short Blue Hour period - there were though many tripods there that evening. I don’t tend to worry about ISO level (I had manually selected !6,000 to deliver a speed I could safely hold steady) - Lightroom now has a very good noice reducer.
My developed Colour version is here, plus an extra image in mono, showing the side-on view of the construction and 2 of the other buildings can be seen at the back. I will probably bore you all with images of these in future months!

Very well done black and white! Good blacks and good whites and plenty of contrast. I like the subject treatment in your extra image (side view) and I will bet that is the more frequently taken shot. Your shot really jumps out at me. I need to look around it to see what is in the image. Well done!   Posted: 12/08/2025 19:16:36

Thank you Bob. I chose this out of many I took from different positions and times of the day, because the building does seem to looking straight at the viewer!   Posted: 12/12/2025 18:40:04

Mysterious! Often, I will study the image before reading the narration. This one had me wondering..."is it a magnificent Concert Hall...or a launch pad? Wonderful focus (at f1/15, you have a steady hand) Good contrast, exposure, composition.

The wonders of image stabilisation! My body/lens combo has 7 1/2 stops of IS and I'm sure most of our equipment has similar now, so hand holding for even longer than a second is now possible.   Posted: 12/12/2025 18:42:44

I have flown a space ship that looks very similar to this one. (Video Game). Wonder where they got the idea from. Your conversion is outstanding here, the black are good, but your whites are just magic. They are held just right and none seem to be blown. I must say the side view is very nice as you get the wonder of the tail.
This is one of those build they built, because they can.
Well done.   Posted: 12/16/2025 14:26:23

What a great architectural treasure to photograph...endless possibilities! Interesting to gaze at and wonder. Black and white works well here, light and shadow, blacks and whites...nicely done.   Posted: 12/17/2025 21:04:45
