About the Image(s)
This photo was taken of a Mountain Lion peering out of his cave at the Sonoran Desert Museum in Tucson, Arizona.
The focus was on his eyes peering out. I had to bring up the shadows on the original photo. Once I did so, the simple tones and focus on his eyes
suggested to me that it could be in monochrome. I used the sliders in Adobe Camera RAW to bring out contrast and tones.
I am interested in which version you find preferable.

Fran, I really enjoy taking photos of wildlife. What a great opportunity to see this mountain lion peering out. I prefer the monochrome version because I think the contrast brings out the eyes better and the various tones and textures are more apparent. With the lines of the cave on the top and bottom, you have triangles drawing the eye right into the eye of the mountain lion. Very nice image.   Posted: 04/10/2025 23:07:56
Very strong conversion, the B&W stands out more than the color version. The focus on the eyes and blurred foreground pull the viewer in to the subject.
I think the amount of weight at the top and bottom over powers the Lion. I wonder if changing it from a square format to something like a 4:3 aspect and eliminate some of the top and bottom and place the eyes are at upper left thirds would give it even more impact/interest.   Posted: 04/17/2025 19:05:11

At first (and quick) sight, I mistook the body for stone, and I had the impression that the lion was hiding behind these rocks...
I really like his attitude and his look (eyes). I like the square format. The diagonals pass through his ears.... The are nice lines.
A s often, the B&W version is stronger for the look in this case.   Posted: 04/19/2025 09:34:08
