About the Image(s)

I am always drawn to the interaction between horses of the same Band.
These are wild horses from the Salt River in Arizona. One ran up to the other and they rubbed noses.

I thought that Monochrome would focus more on their tenderness. I converted it in Silver EfexPro.

As I looked for the proper toning, the Coffee tone seemed to focus more on the horses and their eyes.

But the original green background was distracting, so I placed a plain background over it.

I agree with your description (Mono & tenderness) and work (background).
Really good conversion. The horse's mane is very sharp and we can see the eyes.
The ears are cut but it doesn't matter.   Posted: 02/07/2025 12:38:07

The conversion works well. It removes the harsh background and provides a friendly/tender feel between the two horses; love is in the air. The Coffee color is a good choice for the subjects.

Not sure what was used to change the background, but if you use Lightroom, you can use the Masking tool to select the background and make adjustments without using a brush. I see artifacts where cloning or adjustments were made, maybe with a brush tool. Looks a little unnatural. With the Mask tool, select the background and then lower the Texture and Clarity; that will blur the entire background evenly.   Posted: 02/18/2025 19:58:46

Thanks Dave, I have not used the Masking Tool, but will try it. Salt River Horses, by the way.   Posted: 02/19/2025 15:32:09

I figured they were the Salt River Horses. I never had a chance to see them, darn.   Posted: 02/19/2025 19:12:10

Fran, this is a beautiful image depicting such a tender moment between these two horses. You have captured the eyes looking at each other and the triangles throughout the composition are nice. I like the tone you used and getting rid of the background. Very nice image.   Posted: 02/19/2025 14:21:06

Thank you, Mary Ann. I like the comment about the Triangles. I hadn't noticed them, but it does contribute to the composition. A subconscious choice.   Posted: 02/19/2025 15:34:19

The triangles, I did not catch them either, really great.   Posted: 02/19/2025 19:14:07
