This was taken at the Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone National Park on September 5, 2025. Steam rises from the geothermally heated water which has colors resulting from various bacteria in the mineral-rich water. The ridgeline of distant hills forms a rust-coloredRust, stratified sine wave pattern in the water.

Technical Details:
1/50 sec, f/18, ISO 50
Sony A7R III with 24-70mm f/2.8 set at 70mm
Manual Mode, Center-weighted metering

Wow! I was thinking why the water looks so orange when the trees are so green. Nature is simply incredible. Your image really made me think. I love how you captured the steam as well which is not blown out. I would have liked to see more at the top.   Posted: 10/11/2025 04:32:29

The wonderful colour of the reflection has been caught well and the steam has be handled just right, but what I love is the glimpses of the turquois blue of the water beyond. it adds that touch of different and adds how different the conditions are just meters away.
