About the Image(s)
This capture in NYC's Central Park a couple of decades ago and it's always been one of my favorites because the surroundings set a certain mood at the time.
The camera was a 35mm Canon 1V, 18-300mm, but I could not recall the ISO, aperture, and speed settings. It was derived from a scanned negative and with Photoshop enhancements.

Your composition is great, it break the rules and it works, it could be from any decade. It looks as though he or she is trying to get away. Would make an interesting book cover, even cropping top and bottom still makes a nice image.   Posted: 03/16/2025 11:16:26
Wow! many thanks Paul for your comments.   Posted: 03/19/2025 02:42:55
Carl, I really great image.mI love the graininess of the image, I do fid the boat a Bir close tot he bottom of the composition. Maybe just because it is dark. But very pleasing image

Thanks very much Francois for your thoughts. Luckily, the grain was incorporated within the film negative somehow. I also thought the water was a bit dark, but somehow I began to like it as is.   Posted: 03/19/2025 02:47:36
Nice composition black and white landscape. I would add more light in some part of water.   Posted: 03/17/2025 08:24:37
Thanks Arief for your much appreciated comments. I also though of lightening the water a bit, but somehow, it would lose it's mystique. I'll try to lighten it again another option.   Posted: 03/19/2025 02:51:29
Wonderful image. It has a lot of mood and atmosphere. With the dark sky, there's a sense of foreboding, as though the man in the boat at the front of the image is escaping something dangerous. Nicely done!   Posted: 03/18/2025 22:39:20
Thanks so much Marilyn for your much appreciated comments. I also found the foreboding mood somewhat captivating.   Posted: 03/19/2025 02:53:24
Nice shot of Central Park. I like the person in the foreground paddling. With the grain, it looks like a vintage photograph.   Posted: 03/23/2025 02:16:25
Thank you Nenette for your comment. I also thought it had a vintage appeal to it and to strengthen it, perhaps I could add a slight sepia filter to this. Thanks again.   Posted: 03/25/2025 01:46:02
