DRIED ROSES by Charissa Lansing

January 2025 - DRIED ROSES

About the Image(s)

For me, dried roses convey a sense of nostalgia and the textures of their petals are interesting.
This image was taken on a tripod with a Canon EOS 5D Mark III and 100mm macro lens (set to: f/29, ISO 200, 2.0 sec) using natural window light.

Charissa, very nice still life. I like the lighting and the background. The subject has a lot of interest to me. There is a blossom on the right that is on a bent stem that i found distracting. So, I cloned it out in my feedback image. Overall, very good work!!   Posted: 01/07/2025 19:50:26

I love the colors in this image. The added stouch of the flowers on the table enhances the feeling of "getting tired"   Posted: 01/18/2025 12:08:48

Bev,
Thank you. With the warm window light the colors seem enhanced.   Posted: 01/19/2025 18:31:13

Charissa! I really like this composition ... finding beauty in the old, wilted ... very much themes described in Japanese aesthetics .. and you have composed a lovely picture that encase the dying beauty in a flower: an often missed experienced by many.

Oh, the right-side broken stem and flower .. is perfect .. in my opinion, of course. The broken stem/flower only add to the overall unique character of this particular still life scene.   Posted: 01/21/2025 22:18:05
