About the Image(s)
I have been working on this for a couple of years and finally decided I couldn't actually recreate the masterpiece, so here is my Photoshop version. I took a selfie of myself, distorted it and placed it on a sky background image I have in LRCC. I then added a bridge image and that completed my composite. I then made selections and added some color gradients, distortions and hope I created the mood of Edvard Munch in his works. My version is much hotter and disturbing. It is my influence by my love of Van Gogh. All suggestions are appreciated.

Bob, I love the bright colors and interesting plot you have achieved. The archness adds to the feeling of The Scream. I have a couple of suggestions. I know. that you have been working on this for some time, so I apologize. . I would suggest that we show a mouth similar to the one in Munch's artwork and get rid of the brownish area over her head. I am attaching a very poor rendition, having used the clone tool o remove the browning arch. but in any case I love what you are achieving that is so unlike what we are seeing in the originals.   Posted: 07/06/2025 00:42:19
Thank you, Joan. You can get a feeling how hard this has been for me. I've renamed and subsequently lost both files and layers. I will need to start afresh, probably, but I'm hoping for a lot of suggestions like you have done. Very helpful comment.   Posted: 07/06/2025 01:48:11
Your image invokes enormous energy! I love the colors, especially the red as it signals alarms, high emotions. I agree with Joan's edits, but don't really have any other suggestions. This kind of abstraction is something I have not studied in the past. I am anxious to see more.   Posted: 07/06/2025 18:03:31
Thank you, Karen. I think I can learn about composition, tone and color by studying what grabs my attention in paintings. Putting that study into a project becomes more difficult. Some of my use of PS filters has reduced the effect of my man screaming in the image. I need to get that back. Munch's work, including The Scream, had a formative influence on the Expressionist movement. He described the work as only being able to be painted by a madman. He spoke literally of seeing a blood red sky.   Posted: 07/06/2025 20:16:08
Thanks for the history. I'll have to look up The Scream.   Posted: 07/06/2025 20:32:12
You're welcome. I follow Blake Rudis (f64 Academy) who is a PS expert, unsuccessful painter, and not much better photographer but his recommendations are astute.   Posted: 07/06/2025 20:39:56
I am amazed at your persitance over so long to produce this image! The colours work very well but I am not sure that I see the scream, even in Joans effort. I see a kite shaped object rather than a semblance of a human. Perhaps this is still a work in progress.   Posted: 07/10/2025 11:10:59
Thanks, Ian. The Original above is my "The Scream" image on a background. I'll include the original artwork saved from an online source, so you can see why I posed as I did.
It will continue to be a work in progress.
As I said before, there are at least four different paintings with this title from Munch.   Posted: 07/14/2025 22:01:43
