Robin, This looks like a boat that is on ice with a glacier in the background the is maybe calving or breaking up. Using ICM is always a good idea to see how it looks. You might try reducing the brightness of the lower right which tends to distract from the boat a bi. I really like the feeling of the ice as a background, especially against the clear blue sky. Keep working at this ICM concept on many objects to see what works best. You might check out Jam Lightfoot's website, just go to her name as she is an expert and can give you lots of ideas.   Posted: 04/13/2025 18:56:43
Hi Robin. I applaud trying ICM, and it is a great technique to get Impressionist photographs. Eva Polak is another major source. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmhmYOlVr7bktdq6Yt7OQSA/videos
I would also wonder why you took the image. What was your goal? Did this meet your goal? What would you like from the group?
I hate to go back to the discussion of whether this is an image "created" for the group. In the definition of the Creative category "A camera or other light gathering device could never solely capture such images as they appear in the altered image."

I take your point, Bob, about the definition given to the group, but this image is certainly altered reality and no different than if I had created it on computer. There are a number of contemporary photographers using in camera multiple exposure and blur to make interesting art photographs. Also, we must remember that these days cameras are more than just 'light gathering' devices, they are also sophisticated computers that can do all sorts of on board processing. So, maybe we need to braoden the definition of 'creative' to embrace this. Just a thought.   Posted: 04/19/2025 21:35:35
