About the Image(s)
I took this image in 2017 while walking along Commencement Bay in Tacoma, WA. It was below the seawall, but I liked it enough to shoot it. I processed it in LR and PS, and ended up painting it. Not spectacular, but my creative juices seem to be at low ebb in the winter when my health struggles. All comments are taken into consideration.

This type of painterly effect really appeals to me and I often use the Photoshop filter stylise > oil paint to create a similar effect. Ithink I could live with a bit less of the log by using a tighter crop.   Posted: 03/10/2025 13:39:54
Thanks, Ian. I should have masked the log from the painting, but that is why I am in DD, to get good advice. I was looking to add a third element.   Posted: 03/11/2025 09:54:34

Good job with the painterly effect. painterly effects can be tricky if photoshop. In my opinion the log is a little distracting...use a tighter crop as Ian suggested and try darkening the bright area some - see if it would make a difference. My eyes go back and forth between the log and the flowers and I think the main focus is to be the flowers.   Posted: 03/14/2025 13:37:06
Thank you, Suzy. I agree that I need to reduce the brightness/luminosity of the log. The whole composition is probably weak.   Posted: 03/20/2025 14:22:10
I agree that the log is too bright. I like the painterly effect, but, you know what?, I like your original too. The dark branch end on the log is crying out for a peeping fairy, or a troll face, or a hand reaching out . . .   Posted: 03/21/2025 07:29:53
Bob, Like it's entry this month, I find very little creativity in this image. Sorry abut that, maybe your winter blues at work. As a pictorial image I would suggest cropping out the log entirely and go with the flowers, which are very lovely
The only thing I can think of to make it creative would be to add something as a composite such as a tiny lady or lad among the flowers. .   Posted: 03/21/2025 22:33:06

Thank you, Joan. I do apologize for my lack of creative juices. I'm afraid I did not properly prepare a creative image again this month. I'm taking over DD29 again as admin. It was my original group with DD. I hope to have a proper image in April. I am a VIP member of the Photoshop Creativity Virtual Summit 2025 starting tomorrow and hope that will provide enough training and inspiration to get me on track. There is a free version also. https://www.pscreativitysummit.com/   Posted: 03/22/2025 15:06:46
