About the Image(s)

This image taken in the famous gardens at Alnwick Castle in Northumberland. Adjusted in Camera raw using dehaze to put some detail in the bald sky. Then taken in to Topaz for a gentle painterly effect and finally a boost of saturation.

Beautiful garden. Adding detail in the sky really made a big difference. I enjoy seeing painterly images - sometimes they are over done (mainly with the Photoshop version) but your is just right. Love the colors and really like the way the effect worked with the fountain!   Posted: 03/14/2025 13:27:36

Hi Ian, I thought I had already posted a comment, but I guess not. The additions you have made give the image pop. I had a hard time finding a line to align to, but finally just decided it may not need levelling, yet I did anyway. I think a more symmetrical shot might hold interest better. It just feels slightly tilted. Maybe cropping the sky out would solve my dilemma. Maybe if you had a wide angle shot, from a low point I could feel more connected to the image. I just don't have a warm & fuzzy about the image as presented.   Posted: 03/20/2025 14:10:49

Cropped version. I know I'm being weird, but I'm trying to connect.   Posted: 03/20/2025 14:11:52

The effect certainly enhances this interesting decorative feature. I like the saturation too.   Posted: 03/21/2025 07:23:07

Ian,
I thought we had discussed this enough previously. Last month's entries were all really creative. To me, this is not. You have used only methyds that once can use to enhance a normal photo. I see no creativity here, sorry to sat. I hate to keep going over these aspects of creative again and again. It't a lovely photo but just making it slightly painterly is not enough to make it a creative image. Sorry to be so harsh, but I thought this point had been taken and accepted already by this group.
