About the Image(s)

I took these three images while we were on a road trip of southern Ireland. Never been so afraid driving in my life. The roads for the most part were only slightly wider than my rental car. Anyway, we survived (and we didn't have any black pudding for breakfast.)

I thought about what if Jonathan Livingston Seagull went to school, and no one noticed. I don't know if I should put more effort into this or not. I can go back as I've saved the image several times as I was building it. Let me know what, if anything, you like or dislike about it. My physical therapy is going good and I am starting to feel stronger. Maybe I can get started again on my projects for the group that I've been putting off.

Many of our Welsh roads are just like those you encountered Bob. Shame you did not try the black pudding - scrumpious!!

I feel this is a work in progress. I would suggest keeping the original school shot with the people well defined and placing the seagull in a lees central position.

Thank you, Ian. I might keep it going. I used the doorway as a dark backdrop for his head, but I am not married to anything at all yet. Looking for more good suggestions from our group.   Posted: 02/12/2025 17:19:17

So glad you're feeling better. I like your idea for this image. In my version, I used a slightly different approach. Just an idea.   Posted: 02/14/2025 17:20:03

Thanks, Gunter. Not sure about his size making your image unshootable, but the crop gives me an idea about moving him inside the window looking out or moving/removing her and placing him inside the doorway.   Posted: 02/14/2025 21:17:44

I love the idea. I think the gull is too large and might be better in the doorway.   Posted: 02/19/2025 11:35:30

Thank you, Robin. I think I also may need to change the blur/glow I added. The color is also beginning to be off-putting, if that is a word.   Posted: 02/19/2025 14:13:33

Bob, First of all I missed that you were recovering from something. I hope you are really feeling better.
As for your image, I like that you made the background blurry so the attention would end up on the seagull. I noticed that the people in the original were probably tourists like you, so they either needed to be removed or blurred out, as you did. The concept of a gull at school is pretty out of the box. Maybe you could have a number of gulls, one on the steps as shown, one in the doorway and one at the window inside. Not sure what else to suggest. A good try and composite.   Posted: 02/22/2025 19:53:37

Thank you, Joan. Out of the box is a good start for me.   Posted: 02/22/2025 19:58:43
