Swirling leaves by Gunter Haibach

December 2024 - Swirling leaves

About the Image(s)

Fall leaves, taking on my light table. Sorry, I don't have the camera settings. Post processing in ACR, Ps. and Topaz Studio.
I like this picture for the colours and detail.
As always, appreciate your suggestions and comments

Gunter,The swirl in the center adds interest in a good way. The pattern in the leaves is fun to look at.   Posted: 12/11/2024 18:10:37

Hi Gunter, your leaves are warm and earthy. Rich colors on a light background work well. The swirl is a good filter to use for this well-balanced image. You might consider a little color toning to add depth.   Posted: 12/11/2024 18:19:21

Super image using such basic elements as these few leaves. Like Bob I would try just tweaking saturation to add a little extra punch. My attemt below   Posted: 12/11/2024 20:52:22

What do you use for your Depth Map, Gunter?
I am not sure you need the heavy vignette as the leaves have enough interest to draw and keep the eye in the frame. Ian's vignette is more to my taste. I also decided to play a bit and have this alternative image with a glow added, but a lighter vignette.   Posted: 12/14/2024 18:15:29

I use Ps Adjustments, Gradient Map, white to black.
My guru, Blake recommended this to easily see the distribution of tonal values. Harder to see when in colour   Posted: 12/14/2024 23:39:13

I use Blake's Visionary Panel and Heat Maps in His ZSE 7. He is great and my wife likes Anthony Morganti as he is a little less techie for her.   Posted: 12/15/2024 18:02:26

How do you like the visionary panel?
Have not bought most of his stuff - but have his colour and toning lessons. I like his knowledge on art a lot. On the other hand, I have a disagreement with his stance on Ai.   Posted: 12/15/2024 19:26:47

The VP is his best solution to making tonal and color adjustments quickly. They save me a lot of time. AI is up to PSA for me at this point. My club doesn't allow it, but I'm not sure it is all that effective yet. I use a lot of actions, some by Blake, some by Adobe built in. Timesavers mostly. The glow above was added from the VP Effects.   Posted: 12/16/2024 14:13:32

I see these leaves metamorphosing into a bright and colourful dragon. A simple, everyday object turned into something really interesting.   Posted: 12/15/2024 15:37:23
