About the Image(s)

My camera club reserved a private tour of the Clydesdale horse farm about an hour's drive away from Kansas City. The place is called Warm Springs Ranch. Their website is https://www.warmspringsranch.com/. There are several stables there. Each horse has its own "room" behind a sliding door with its name on it.

You can see the rollers at the bottom of the door for Lindy. The door section to the left of that part of the door is decorated with "interesting" info. For this month's purpose of picturing an "interesting door" I'm allowing the "whole" door to be allowed simply because it is all so "interesting"!

I've included some other photos to give you an idea of the stable's hallway lined with doors on each side. It may be hard for you to picture this scene as a door, but when I was standing there, I could see how easy it could be to slide that door and step inside the horse stall!

I used Photoshop to straighten the image and make it look its best.

Carole, this is indeed interesting. What a great opportunity to see this beautiful creatures. I like the straight on take of this door and the inclusion of all its parts. There is a bit of light coming from the right which makes me linger there and wonder what is beyond. The light also creates depth in the image so it feels dimensional. The focus includes everything that is important. Your processing captured the mood of the moment. Great shot, Carole.   Posted: 09/02/2023 11:55:52

The light is from the outdoors, coming in from the end of the hallway. The building is a stable, so there is a big open door at the end of the center hallway. That's how they bring the horses in and out of the stable. I toned down the light area a lot in my final version.   Posted: 09/15/2023 13:47:01

Definitely a great subject for this month's theme. What an interesting door...my eye was taking in so much! I like how the vertical lines of the Iron bit compliments the wooden part of the door. Where was Lindy? Maybe she was out for a ride!   Posted: 09/10/2023 11:41:18

Not all the horses were in their stable room. They get to be outside in the pastures, too. The ranch has many acres of rolling hills. And sometimes a horse is called away to be on "active duty"!   Posted: 09/15/2023 13:48:51

How lucky you all were to visit this stable. There must have been innumerable photo opportunities. You did an excellent job straightening and adjusting the original. We can almost read the fine print on the door. This fits the assignment perfectly. I agree with Joan that the lighter area on the right side of the door adds a feeling of depth.   Posted: 09/18/2023 13:33:51

Hi Carole: Not only did you do a nice job of straightening this image, but the crop is also excellent. I actually think that a horse in the stable would be distracting and cause the image to be too busy. This is certainly a story-telling image. I can see Lindy as uncompromising in all her duties and that she is out attending to business. Being a horse person, I love this image.   Posted: 09/18/2023 14:09:58
