About the Image(s)
Highway 42 between Gills Rock and Northport is a famously scenic, winding stretch on the tip of the Door County peninsula in Wisconsin, known for its picturesque curves. When I saw this road in a travel brochure, I knew I had to go hunting for it when I planned my fall color trip that year. I found it after many hours of driving. Unfortunately, that year was bad for fall colors. But I did get the feeling of the fabulous curvy road! There was almost no traffic, so I stepped out of the car to take some photos. The only editing was removing some wires and signs.

Love the curves as they lead your eye into and through the image. The car (and the orange toned color no less) add a nice element to the image. I might have used the remove tool in Lightroom to remove the house at the "end of the road" as it pulled my eye away from the last bend in the road.   Posted: 11/12/2025 21:56:50
I never noticed the white area at the end of the curves in this photo. I do see something there now that you mentioned it. But I don't remember seeing anything but mail boxes and long driveways. Mmmm, I wonder if that is really a house so close to the road. I did remove a mailbox and a street sign...and 3 wires.   Posted: 11/13/2025 00:08:25
What a fun road! It looks as if they made it curvy on purpose, and not by necessity. Do you know anything about the construction of the road?
Can you post the before photo? Other groups I am in post before and after so we can see the changes and perhaps comment on them. For example, on the upper right there appears to be branches suspended in the air. Was it like that or is this an artifact of removing wires? Did you also remove a power pole?
