About the Image(s)

I make a lot of BW images using Nik Effects Pro. So I decided to learn something new, namely, how to use Photoshop to create a monochrome image using a color other than black. At a workshop in Seattle, Bryan Peterson was teaching us various settings to capture motion. This is Bryan jumping in front of the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle (MoPOP). This section of MoPOP is made of purple metal. Bryan was wearing blue. I decided to make the image monochrome purple in keeping with the color scheme of MoPOP.

This made me smile! I like Bryan's reflection and the monochrome purple really works for this image. Very creative.   Posted: 04/13/2025 20:15:33

Thanks Ally. I took a chance on the purple because my default monochrome behavior is BW. Digital Dialogue provides a welcome opportunity to step out of one's rut!   Posted: 04/15/2025 16:01:39

What a goofy and happy image! Your edits improved an already great image. I love it. I cropped a little from the right for composition. It seemed out of balance - but that's just me.   Posted: 04/15/2025 15:37:52

Hi Connie,
I am a big fan of the rule of thirds and providing space for a forward moving object to move into. That why I framed the image that way. It's a stylistic approach that I prefer. After having both competed and taken a number of photography workshops, my approach has been reinforced by my mentors. In fact so much so that your suggestion looks out of balance to me. ????   Posted: 04/15/2025 16:07:47
