About the Image(s)
I could have chosen from lots of black and white photos, but I challenged myself to find an image that was in color. I had to go back a long way! But I finally found this one that I think would qualify. I took it in the late afternoon on a garden walk.

I think this is the perfect example of a monochrome image...really nicely done. The colors are constant and varied. I like the layers and depths of the shadows and the light filtering through the tall bud. It certainly depicts to me a lovely walk in the garden in the late afternoon.   Posted: 04/08/2025 21:28:25
It is really difficult to find a true monochromatic image in real life. You found a good one. The flower stalk is in good focus and nicely lit. The spider web is a big plus. I found the background a little distracting. I sampled the shadows using the eye dropped at 101x101. Then added a blank layer and painted over the bright areas. This was a little too harsh; reducing opacity allowed some of those areas to show through without being distracting.   Posted: 04/15/2025 16:04:10
Hi Nancy,
This is a beautiful image that is mostly green. But it is not true monochrome, at least not in the monochrome competition sense, because it has a yellow component. There is also a bit of red in the tip of the plant. I removed the non-green components in this image (easily done in Lightroom). While the difference is subtle, this is now a true monochrome image.   Posted: 04/15/2025 16:24:30
