About the Image(s)
This was a nice challenge because it forces us to think outside the box regarding color. There was an awesome electrical storm in the eastern night sky. I was able to stand in the kitchen doorway to keep the camera out of the rain. The camera was on a tripod. It was set on about 30 seconds. I used a remote shutter release and just kept clicking. Luck was on my side. Processing was done in PS. First, I cropped quite a bit. Then added a high pass filter to sharpen. The blue border was added to make the image stand out on out black background.

Very dynamic image and amazing capture of the lightening...patience paid off. I have never tried this but my friend has a lightening trigger and has produced some amazing shots so alot for me to learn! The trees in the foreground adds a great structure and with the border you created its a great image.   Posted: 04/13/2025 20:19:59
Thank you. We have something called a 'lightning bug' that is supposed to trigger the camera at just the right second. But the results were inconsistent. Our little point-and-shoot camera set on bulb gave our most successful results. But the battery was dead for this storm. A lot of this is luck.   Posted: 04/15/2025 16:09:29
Wonderful capture. It makes a good subject for monochrome. That horizontal fork goes a long way. I hope it didn't hit anything.
I've never tried to photograph lightening, but now I am inspired. But In my area of the country we don't get lightning (Northern California), so I'd have to travel to thunderstorm country!
