About the Image(s)
This is one of the many photos I took a few years ago when I was spending a significant amount of time photographing flowers, particularly macro photographs. I have completely forgotten where I took it, but I do know I was using natural light and a Sony Macro 90mm lens that remains one of my favorites.

I enjoy Macro too and you have done a wonderful job with layering of these beautiful petals. Such a softness it evokes and the colour scape is wonderful. Nicely cropped.   Posted: 11/03/2024 22:38:58

Thank you Ally! The more I photograph the more I like soft photos also, although sometimes I struggle to tell the difference between soft and just out of focus.   Posted: 11/05/2024 19:46:11

The vibrant orange colour looks good. The fill-frame composition also soothes the eyes. The only thing I wish was either a little more focus depth to bring out the front texture of the petals or a completely soft dreamy image.   Posted: 11/04/2024 18:37:34

Thank you Srijan, I agree. When I study the photo I see that horizontal light petal in the center and I do wish the focused area was there instead of on the petals right above it.   Posted: 11/05/2024 19:48:17

The orange color is what strikes me as especially beautiful. The lighting leads my eye to the petals. I did struggle to find the petal that was in focus. I had assumed that one petal would be sharp. But that's not always the case with "dreamy" flower photography. I do a lot of flower close-ups and struggle with the same problem of deciding what, if anything, to put in focus. I think with this view that I'd prefer more petals to be sharp. I usually take several photos with increasing depth of field and then choose from the results, later.   Posted: 11/12/2024 19:19:39
