About the Image(s)
I found a package of seashells at the Thrift Store. I decided that I would see if I could do some HiKey with them. Tried to make it look like minimalism. Not sure if it works, whether it would be better if the shells were a little softer in color.
Shot with OM-1, 12-40 lens, on a tripod at f11 iso320, 1/5 of a second. Took it into ACR and raised the white up and lowered the highlights. In Photoshop I did a little cropping.

Hi Ruth,
I like your idea of doing a hi key image. Maybe lower the shells to the lower third for a stronger composition and move it slight to the left for more breathing room. I think the color works. Is it possible to make the background whiter?

Ruth, you've accomplished the minimalist look on a high key background. As Doris said, I would move it to the left just a bit to get it off the edge but I'm okay with it in the top third. If you wanted to play around with composition, you could try flipping it horizontally so that the shells would be on the right. Nice image.   Posted: 09/19/2023 06:58:21
Hi, Ruth!
Great job capturing a minimalistic feel in this image. When I first saw the shell arrangement it made me wonder if a creature might be lurking underneath the shells. This image has a dynamic feel for me. Thank you for sharing it!
I think Doris and Karen offer some good ideas to explore regarding the composition and framing.   Posted: 09/19/2023 11:44:21

Thank you for the ideas, I will try flipping it to see if it makes a difference   Posted: 09/19/2023 23:10:07
Very interesting placement of the shells. Initially, I too though the shells needed to placed a bit to the left. but the more I looked at the image and thought about that placement, I decided I liked them where they are. It is as if they wanted to creep out of the frame, but you stopped them. Your image communicates a very soothing mood. Colors are very subdued, very soft. Very nice image.   Posted: 09/20/2023 19:56:32
