About the Image(s)
This image was taken early one morning in June without a tripod. I shot it using shallow depth of field to give it an abstract quality and cropped it in a square format. Post processing was done in Lightroom.

Hello Doris - I'm in Groups 16 and 11. One of my images is also in the Showcase, but I was blown away by your image of the garlic and garlic press! It has WOW and impact. Have you won awards with it?   Posted: 09/15/2023 02:32:43
Thanks Darlene for your positive comment. I've only entered "Garlic on Press" in competition and it received a score of A with honors. Sorry I missed seeing you Showcase image. I'm not sure which one was yours but your black and white rendition of "The Grand Tetons" in group 11 is magnificent.   Posted: 09/18/2023 19:30:54
Doris, the bud of your day lily is tack sharp. I really like it against the green bokeh. I wonder if you would have moved just a bit to the right whether your whole background could have been that green background. As green is a complimentary color to yellow, it gives a pleasing look to the eye.   Posted: 09/19/2023 06:53:45
Hi, Doris!
To my eye those details in the lily bud are beautifully captured and the lighting suggests a surrealistic feel to the image for me. I enjoy seeing the vibrant yellow against the contrast of the lovely green background.
The blue illuminated column seems to be somewhat distracting for me.   Posted: 09/19/2023 11:52:08

I like all of the vivid colors of this. Especially the yellow bud. I think you might could try is to tone the blue down, but with all the different colors this works as an abstract.   Posted: 09/19/2023 23:17:47
WOW! This image of the Day Lily bud with its "abstract quality" blows me away. The soft greenery really makes the yellow bud pop. The only suggestion I would offer is bring that stem in the lower left out of the corner of the frame, making a slight rectangular format. Fantastic image!   Posted: 09/20/2023 20:04:45
