About the Image(s)

I had a budgie a while ago which was domesticated and under a free fly environment in my house. He liked very much to be taken in a photo (a very narcissistic bird). I used my Nikon Macro annular flash ring and used my Nikkor 55mm Macro to take this picture. I don’t have trace of the metadata of this photo but remember that the speed was 1/125 and aperture was f/16. I do not recall the ISO. I definitively chose to have a black background to avoid any distraction.

Hi, Georges,
Amazing capture of the Budgie! The detail in the feathers is great especially in the small blue ones. Eye and bill very sharp. When I look at the image I can almost hear him personally talking to me!
Beautifully done!

Thanks Janet. I forgot to say that the black background was not a black cardboard, but just the fact that, with an f/16 aperture, the background was severely underesposed and making it black
This budgie was talking a lot. Pronounced a series of words. His name was Titi and often he said (in French) "I am Titi, Hello Titi, Good morning..."   Posted: 11/13/2021 14:17:27

Georges - he must have been a lot of fun! I have talked to a lot of pets before but they never talked to me!   Posted: 11/13/2021 15:57:31

I like your bright colored Budgie and think he works well with the black background. It really makes the colors stand out.   Posted: 11/19/2021 09:43:19

Great colors with a sharp eye which is important in this image. Great background. Nice composition.   Posted: 11/20/2021 16:11:39

Hi Georges,
The focus and saturation of colors against the dark background are so pleasing to me. I think those sweet pin feathers on the top of Titi's head call out to be petted.

The composition is interesting, and seeing the one, sharp eye captures my attention.   Posted: 11/23/2021 08:35:47

What a cute parrot, the color of the hair is very bright, if you can reduce the aperture to deepen the entire depth of field, the details of the hair will be clearer, a great work   Posted: 11/25/2021 01:06:46

Reminds me of my younger days at home, my mother always had a parakeet (budgie) or two. I like the dark background, good contrast between the background and the subject, with focal emphasis on the eyes. Also, good depth of field.   Posted: 11/29/2021 11:17:52
