In An Irish Village by James Silliman

November 2025 - In An Irish Village

About the Image(s)

My wife and I had just spent a miserable morning at the Cliffs of Moher. The wind was fierce on the cliffs. In addition, it was cold and pouring the rain. I had always heard how beautiful the cliffs were and I was hoping to get some photographs of the wildlife, especially the Puffins. No such luck.
So, we drove a short distance to the quaint village of Adare. As it turned out, the weather inland was much better and we enjoyed a stroll through the village. Adare is celebrated as Ireland’s Prettiest Village, founded in the 13th Century. On the main street, I was quite taken by this house with the beautifully kept thatched roof. The flowers in the yard also caught my eye and my camera. I have researched this flower to no avail. If I were guessing, I would initially say it is a Black Eyed Susan. The stamen does not seem dark to be enough to be a BES. But maybe it looks different late in the season. Once again, I did not take sufficient notes. I should have asked someone.
Canon G11, ISO 640, 1/2000 sec @f/5.6. Minor adjusting in Lightroom.
