Very cool image, Charissa! I love the colors and patterns that these two organisms made.   Posted: 04/13/2025 13:53:37

I have taken shots like this before. Comments received at my club have been mixed. In most cases the issue was where is the subject. The eye tends to travel all over the photo looking for the subject. Truthfully, I would have taken this picture also because the colors are wonderful, and I love the texture.   Posted: 04/15/2025 18:43:26
Thank you, Lori. I understand the mixed response. I had hoped that the one complete, fully revealed lichen body (thallus), positioned at the bottom third intersection of an imaginary grid for the rule of thirds, would be perceived as the main subject of interest. It is slightly sharpened, compared to the other lichen bodies that are only partially revealed in the frame. I chose to preserve its natural appearance rather than to manipulate it. I guess some modification in hue or contrast, might help direct the viewer's attention to it. What do you think?   Posted: 04/15/2025 20:59:13
I think this is great. I would call it a texture photo. It's fun to find all the different shapes and see how they connect. Nice!   Posted: 04/19/2025 22:07:43
