December 2024 - Bad Hair Day

I'm just having a little fun with dandelions today before they are gone for the year. This one I call "Bad Hair Day". I don't know if it looks like a Troll or one of those pencil tops that we used to swirl between our hands with hair on the top. Anyway, the seeds looked like eyes to me, and it just made me smile. If photography/art is supposed to make you feel something I hope this photo makes you smile today.
The camera was my Nikon D850 with macro lens. My ISO was set at 1000 w f/20 and exposure 1/200 sec. I used my light box and edited the photo using Photoshop.

Oh, if only we could look so good on a bad hair day!! What a wonderful capture. For me, it is the light that is so appealing - not strong, not white, but just golden enough to show off the hair beautifully, and still make the stem show off its green color. When I look at this image, it feels like there is just a hint of shading behind the plant, but I don't think there is - it feels more like my eye creates that because of the great lighting on the weed. Great image, Lori! Simple yet effective. At first glance I assumed you placed those seeds to make a face. How lucky to find it naturally. I will have to start looking more closely at dandelion flowers. Posted: 12/16/2024 22:35:00
