This image was made in Munich a few years ago. The Eisbach river runs through central Munich and it's very swift, especially in this area which attracts the surfers. It was a lot of fun to watch them. I like the arrangement of the surfboards and the guys in their wetsuits. I hope you

Kathleen, I think this is a great shot and well cropped. Whilst some might say an even number don't work as well as an uneven one, in this case I think it works better. Here you have a variety of expressions ranging from the guy on the left who looks depressingly cold, moving up the line to the couple engaged in talking about the beers they will share later to the final three of all-out surfer pros sandwiching the guy with his head down who looks as though he would be happier somewhere else!

Thank you, Peter! You really nailed the elements I like about the shot. I'm very interested in images of groups of people (I have LOTS of such images and I'd like to use more of them for the discussion). I enjoyed your "reading" of the individual faces/body language. I also appreciate your mention of the blackness of the wetsuits. I like lots of detail in shadow/dark areas so I really don't want the black areas blocked up. Great feedback! Great presentation of the surfers holding their surfboard ready to take off in the rushing water. It appears that they are ready for a race. Kathleen - good shot of a groups providing plenty of interest within their interactions (or lack of). I like the ferment of the water, adds to the sense of apprehension that some display.
I have two small suggestions: I would have left a little more height since I think the men on the right are too close to the top; and I wonder if the tone you used is an enhancement, I think that cyan might convey an appropriate sense of cold. Posted: 05/14/2023 14:13:55
