About the Image(s)

This photo of the St. Augustine Lighthouse was taken while on a gorgeous sunrise tour at St Augustine Fl on April 20th, 2023 at 6:20 am. This tour was one offered while attending the Birding and Photofest there.

Sony A7iii with Sigma 100-400
ISO 128 F6.3 1/40 sec

It was a challenge to take photos from the moving boat and with this heavier camera ( no tripod)
Lightroom/Photoshop were used to process this photo.

wow this is very impressive shot , looking at your EXIF, the 1/40seconds in a moving boat with such heavy gear is really commendable. NIcely composed as well.   Posted: 05/01/2023 21:08:29

What a lovely image. The sky is fantastic with it's colours and the lighthouse really stands out against it. Also, really like the lighting on the lighthouse.

Isn't image stabilization wonderful? You got a very nicely focused shot.

The reflections on the water act as leading lines up to the subject.

I guess the one thing I'd try to do is clone out the 3 dark poles in the water to the right and then maybe crop in a bit from the right to take the lighthouse just off centre a little (see my VF). This is a very small suggestion on an image that is really well done.   Posted: 05/02/2023 10:48:25

Thanks for this suggestion! I agree with cropping out those poles makes it much better

I, too, like Keith's crop. This is a wonderful image and the lines of light make it very special. A slight increase in sky saturation might be enhancing   Posted: 05/09/2023 14:59:40

I agree with the others about the cropping, and the fact that it's a great image. The reflections lead right up to the wonderful tones in the sky. It's very impressive how sharp the lighthouse is, considering!   Posted: 05/10/2023 13:48:03
