Tierra Verde Bridge at Dawn by Ted Newman

May 2023 - Tierra Verde Bridge at Dawn

About the Image(s)

Bridge at dawn. This is a photo of a bridge on Tierra Verde, FL taken near dawn, showing lights illuminating the bridge from underneath and the sky at dawn. The flow of the lines of the bridge and the repeating and elegant bridge supports caught my eye.

Ted, absolutely beautiful lighting on the bridge and the sky is perfect. Very good example of the golden hour. Outstanding sharpness and detail of the bridge. The only thing I might do and it is very picky is remove the building in the lower left. Super image!   Posted: 05/03/2023 18:16:40

Amazing composition. Wonderful job of capturing the color. I agree with Tom about removing the small building at the lower left.   Posted: 05/03/2023 19:32:55

A wonderful urban landscape image Ted. Your composition is spot on and I agree the repetitive pattern of bridge structure together with the light make this a very interesting photo. I think the building on the left could stay if it had a little bit more space. Otherwise, I agree it could be cloned out.

Great work

I love the gentle curve of the supports. For me, the building gives the image a "landing point".

I'll agree with all the nice things that have already been said. My only suggestion would be to try to bring the hue of the sky closer to the blue of the lights under the bridge and that's being very picky.   Posted: 05/10/2023 07:13:25

Hi Ted, a question. Is the Tierra Verde Bridge lighted like this all the time. We are going to Fort DeSoto in a week or so for wild life and would like to shoot the bridge also?   Posted: 05/13/2023 06:57:19

Great capture and very nice color tone. This reminds me my photos for Coronado bridge in San Diego. It's hard to angle the shots. Sometimes far away image is better than a close shot.   Posted: 05/13/2023 11:08:10

At first I agreed with Tom about the building and then when I cropped it, it just sort of finished in mid air so I left it in. However, as it looked a bit out of kilter with the rest of the image, I just darkened it down and that seemed to work. Well composed and great colours Ted.   Posted: 05/31/2023 16:17:58

Hi Ted, Just got back from your neck of the woods. Stayed a few hundred feet from this bridge. Shot the Tierra Verde Bridge several times but none of our images were as good as yours. However the bird and wildlife photography at the North Beach of Fort De Soto was just outstanding on both mornings and evenings that we were there. Many Oyster Catchers, Skimmers and Spoonbills.   Posted: 05/31/2023 17:06:10
