About the Image(s)

This image suggests a view of a private place. It is also a study in composition. There are a number of leading lines that may draw your eyes into the scene. I'm curious to get everyone's reactions to it.

You are correct an interesting study on composition. I like the triangles and leading lines. I would like to see this shot under different lighting conditions. The sun coming through the trees becomes a little distracting but the shadows are also interesting when you look at just the shadows.   Posted: 10/02/2019 10:31:56

Thanks for your feedback. That's an interesting idea about shooting the same scene in different light and in different seasons. I'll consider doing that.   Posted: 10/19/2019 15:08:06

You are correct about the diagonal line of the fence. It also has the color to attract the eye. I do get your feeling of a Private Place since I feel like I've wandered down somebody's driveway by mistake.   Posted: 10/02/2019 13:34:40

Thanks for mentioning that it appears to be a private place because it is, and I wasn't sure that would be clear from the photo.   Posted: 10/19/2019 15:05:45

Good instructional image. So many components lead you into the scene and in particular to the door next to the garage.   Posted: 10/05/2019 19:33:00

Thanks, Dave. The thing I wanted to do, but didn't have the person with me at that moment, was to have someone standing right at that red gate. I think that would have made the image much stronger. If I work on Jerry's suggestion of reshooting in different light, maybe I'll take someone along for that.   Posted: 10/19/2019 15:14:51

Like Dave, I was drawn to the door (gate) beside the garage which is closed. This adds to the "private" nature of the scene. The strongest lines lead to that gate so one wonders what is hidden back there. Lots of possible stories.   Posted: 10/08/2019 14:02:10

It really is a semi-private area and I wasn't sure that would come through. Thanks for commenting on it.   Posted: 10/19/2019 15:04:03

Like the shadows, yellow flowers, red fence and red square in one of garage door windows. Closed gate and garage doors do say private and stay away.   Posted: 10/16/2019 16:34:02

It was down the back alley a bit, so I felt like I needed to take the shot and move on. I wasn't sure that feeling would come through in the image, so thanks for mentioning it.   Posted: 10/19/2019 15:02:10

There are a lot of elements to keep your eye moving through the scene. I like the three peaks of the buildings and the tree shadows that seem to lead to the fence. The light on the trees and building on the left seems a little harsh.   Posted: 10/17/2019 22:45:52

You're correct about those brighter spots. I must admit that I didn't pay enough attention to them, so thanks for the feedback.   Posted: 10/19/2019 14:59:18
