Deconstructed Daisy by Elaine Miller

September 2023 - Deconstructed Daisy

About the Image(s)

This was one of the better flowers left from a bouquet. When I took it out of the vase it fell apart. I put the pieces on my light table and shot.
Edited in Lightroom, sharpened in Topaz Photo
Canon R5, RF 100mm Macro, ISO 100, f22, 1/5 second

My favourite tool for flower photography - light table. This is a perfect example. Nicely translucent, soft colours. My only suggestion is to flip it portrait style - for me it improves the composition a bit. See what you think.   Posted: 09/12/2023 08:47:08

I flipped it so that the heaviest part is at the bottom. I like that you brightened it, so I increased the brightness.   Posted: 09/12/2023 09:08:12

I like it just as you shot it. Very nice. I don't have a light table, but this makes me want to get one. Welcome to group 29.   Posted: 09/12/2023 14:41:24

Thank you! Light tables are so much fun and are great for macro and flower shots.   Posted: 09/12/2023 14:44:17

Hi Elaine. Welcome to DD29. I like your creativity and deconstruction of the Daisy. I would have stayed with your original exposure of the white petals, however, I would have flipped the image horizontally with the trail of petals leading to the bud. It's almost an abstract so its fun how we can all have a variation that works.   Posted: 09/12/2023 15:14:51

First, a big welcome to our group. Your image shows you will fit in nicely. I do have a light box and have tried this in the past, but not with your success. I tried rotating your image before I saw you had done that, but i have a different view. There are several ways to display this lovely image. This is a reminder to all of us to think about different views.

I don't think we have been to SW MO, but my father was from KC so we visited there as kids. We have driven through on I70 many times.   Posted: 09/18/2023 12:04:59
