About the Image(s)
Recently I went on a photoshoot with a local camera club to a bird sanctuary.
Most of the birds are injured in some way and the sanctuary takes care of them.
For our photoshoot volunteers showed us the birds to photograph.
I don’t know the name of this bird, but I liked the way he/she is portraited against that large tree.
This round’s discussion is now closed!

The owl or whatever the bird is is great. I would try to remove the some of the tree trunk that is in front of him. It is a bit of a distraction.   Posted: 05/09/2023 09:38:30
Beautiful owl. I always like the way they blend into the tree with camouflage. I agree with Renee, remove the end of the branch. Not exactly PSA rules, but hey, a better photo.   Posted: 05/11/2023 16:41:54
What a hoot! Really. May be a Great Horned Owl.
I wonder if you can selectively sharpen the tree branch.
I'd also maybe crop in on him a bit. The tree to the right seems a bit overwhelming to me.
You did an excellent job of getting a clear shot of him. I think you also got a catch light in his eyes.
Fun shot.   Posted: 05/22/2023 08:32:39

Looks to be an Eastern Screech Owl and a good looking one at that. Too bad he wasn't clear of the branch in front of him.   Posted: 05/22/2023 20:34:39
Owls nearly always photograph well, usually as they are quite content to stay still reacting on a branch. I would prefer to see an image without the branch crossing in front of the bird.   Posted: 05/23/2023 01:52:43

I don't mind the branch. All part of the story. The cut tells us it is probably captive. The great big eyes have good impact.
It think that maybe there is too much tree on the left and as it is quite sharp it takes away from the subject.   Posted: 05/24/2023 07:50:53
