This was another 'rescue' image – taken at a recent air show in south Florida, the weather was for the most part overcast and I was shooting toward the light source. I opened into PS5 and Camera Raw and started playing around with the various settings sliders. My approach is to not follow a particular method other than to improvise as I go along, which means going back and forth and adjusting as if I was doing a painting. I can't give you setting numbers, but I can say that I was working with exposure, fill light, recovery, brightness, contrast, clarity, vibrance and saturation. I opened into the editor and cropped so as to build out the bottom, then sent the image into On1 special effects and used the enhanced contrast slider.

Very, very nice Jerry. I really like how you have brought out the subtle coloring and all of the markings on the plane. When I look closely at your original, I wonder if that white blurry area on the wings is really thin clouds that he is flying through? Nice rescue!   Posted: 05/02/2023 10:10:39

My, my Jerry, your Raptor is so sharp that it appears to be a cut-out. Yes Peggy, I am pretty sure those are clouds. Jerry, the Raptor is too centered. I suggest you crop a bit from the back and add a bit space in the front. Also, perhaps you can replace the sky with one that has some clouds in the background.   Posted: 05/04/2023 16:32:06

Great save on this blown out image. The phantom jet. You caught it on the good bank. I saw this plane at an air show a couple years ago and it is an amazing machine. I like the tonality you have applied to the skin and the contrasting canopy.   Posted: 05/05/2023 10:10:50

While it looks a little "static", you've done a nice job of bringing out the detail. Capturing one that moves so fast is difficult. Good job!   Posted: 05/25/2023 11:00:44

I like you took a blown out image and found a solution to salvage it. Very creative effects. The background compliments the tones and texture of the jet.   Posted: 05/27/2023 09:22:43
