Garden Flower by Diana Duffey

May 2023 - Garden Flower

About the Image(s)

I took this image indoors next to my kitchen window. Sony R4, 50mm lens, ISO 100, F 5.6, SS 1/4. Used a tripod and a Kathleen Clemons printed texture for the background. In Lightroom, I moved the shadow slider to the right and I brightened the center of the flower. In photoshop,
I did a levels adjustment. Your comments are always appreciated.

Hi Diana, I think it's lovely. The only thing that I would like to see differently would be to have the picture be brighter. You could easily lighten it up in Photoshop. I like the positioning of the flower and the bud, and the background is really pretty too, goes along with the flower nicely.   Posted: 05/17/2023 20:17:28

Thanks Donna, I will brighten it up. I am sorry for the late response- computer difficulties.   Posted: 05/26/2023 13:19:19

Nice image. I think a little more contrast and saturation to make the flowers pop.   Posted: 05/17/2023 20:58:04

Great detail of the flower. I agree it is a bit too dark.   Posted: 05/20/2023 14:15:57

Rich, I have to pay attention to my histogram. My images tend to be dark.   Posted: 05/26/2023 13:21:52

Diana I played around a bit with it, just brightened it an added contrast and this is what happened. You could even just apply a layer mask and brighten up the main flower and leave the rest alone. Lots of possibilities for edits.   Posted: 05/20/2023 14:51:54

A well-composed floral image! The texture also works well here. I also agree with Donna that it would benefit from brightening and more contrast.   Posted: 05/21/2023 15:54:53
