About the Image(s)
Created to convey the timelessness of the desert landscape. Captured with a 21 mm lens at f/11, 1/360 s. Converted to black and white in Adobe Camera Raw using selective adjustments to the red, orange, yellow, and blue channels to emphasize tonal separation. Multiple brightness-adjusted versions were then blended in Adobe Photoshop to refine local contrast and preserve detail throughout the image.

Captivating! The desert's landscape and the effects of its' climate on vegetation are clearly conveyed in the image. You captured sharp details on the fallen tree. Nice texture. I like the tonal contrast of the tree and other shrubs against the darkened background and sky. The light and shadows under the tree adds interest. I noticed the horizon isn't straight. Perhaps you could straighten it a bit. Just a thought. Great job, Chris.   Posted: 07/05/2026 17:18:58
Indeed, you are absoluty right. The edge was trailing away on the left so I didn't notice this. Easy fix. Thank you.   Posted: 07/05/2026 21:43:54
At first I thought the tree should be lightened, but no. This is an image that invites the eye to dwell and take in the texture, the history, the resilience that this scene embodies. Lovely tonality.   Posted: 07/10/2026 09:35:35
Thank you Exactly the point I am mulling over. Also very difficult to print as it tones down the tree further. Still experimenting there.   Posted: 07/10/2026 16:04:42
