About the Image(s)
The mono image, ‘Kissing Blossoms”, was taken in a large, outdoor flowerpot at Longwood Gardens a few years ago. The photo was captured, handheld, with a Sony RX10 Mark IV camera in aperture priority at f4, 1/20 sec, ISO 100, centered weighted metering, 0EV at 78mm. The original color image was converted to black & white in Luminar Neo with black/white point adjustments as well as highlight and contrast adjustments. Additional adjustments were made in Adobe Photoshop Elements using the NIK Collection 9 Silver Efex filter and sharpening.

I really like the elegant forms and the black-and-white treatment. For me, the composition feels a little busy, with several stems and leaves intersecting and a number of shapes cut off by the frame. A slightly cleaner composition might make those beautiful curves stand out even more.   Posted: 07/01/2026 21:27:14
An interesting angle. I think I might try to darken everything other than the 'kissing' blooms to make them stand out a little more among the, inevitable, tangle of stems and leaves. An interesting photograph.   Posted: 07/10/2026 09:42:08
Love the curves of the kissing blossoms. I agree with Robin and Chris. The blossoms are lost in the midst of the the surrounding leaves and stems. Darkening everything else in the frame, as Robin suggested, would help the white kissing blossoms pop.   Posted: 07/13/2026 01:00:55
